Iresine herbstii, or Herbst's bloodleaf, is a species of flowering plant in the family Amaranthaceae. An attractive foliage plant with bright blood red leaves with prominent veins. Upright mounding habit - likes bright light to part sun, to mostly sun. Some of mine are in full sun, but I have to water them ALL the time in the summer heat. Sometimes call the Chicken Gizzard Plant lol
Two choices - Purple/Pink or Green/Red. Either will come in a 3-4" pot.
You will need to PINCH OFF small limbs or leaves to keep compact. It can get long and leggy if you don't pinch back.
A beauty that can grow to 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Above Zone 10, it needs to be protected from frost and Old Man Winter. It is a lovely indoor plant as well!! See the main photo! This gorgeous mama has been in my Garden Shed and look how vibrant she is! I brought her out to the porch for a photo session :)
She also Loves sun, shade and moisture. It will wilt when it’s lacking water.
The plants in the photos may or may not be what you will receive. I don't photograph and upload daily selections of all the plants, and the propagation bed is turning out different plants every day. Shipping will be the Monday or Tuesday after your order is placed. I can ship any other day if you message me your request. The goal is for your plant to reach you without spending any extra time sitting around a post office in extreme weather, especially, but lately the USPS are having issues again. 😀
Your Starter Plant will be carefully wrapped and packaged so that no damage can occur. The heat may get to it, but it should bounce back quickly after getting some fresh air and water. If a leaf or two fall off, please don't worry. It happens in the shipping process, and in this case, it will help this plant, since you need to pinch it every now and again to make it a full plant.
*** please remember that we are all experiencing high (or low) temperatures, just like you. PLEASE bring your package inside and unpack it as soon as you possibly can. And WATER THEM! Let them acclimate for a few days, before putting in extreme weather. If there are special instructions for your plant, they will be written in box, and or messaged to you.

Herbst’s bloodleaf (Iresine diffusa f. herbstii) Starter Plant
1) Plants will be shipped bare root unless otherwise specified.
2) Plants shipped using USPS First Class or USPS Priority will be shipped on Mondays only. Plants shipped using USPS Priority Express will be shipped next business day. If you are in CALIFORNIA, WASHTINGTON STATE, OREGON, MINNESOTA, HAWAII, I will only send if you pay for PRIORITY EXPRESS. Otherwise, I will be refunding your money.
3) Plants are are not indestructible and are living, perishable items. I choose only the healthiest plants for shipping and I pack them well, but sometimes things happen during shipping that are beyond my control. Once a package leaves my hands, I am no longer responsible for poor handling, extremes in temperature, shipping delays, etc. The majority of the plants I sell arrive in good condition, but shipping live plants is always risky.
